I wanted a DIN sized UHF to replace previous UHF that fitted in a DIN fitting place in the car dash. This unit has many add on features that I believe are worth paying a few extra dollars for. Testing of new unit highlights it operates as specified with good perfomance from my existing antenna in place. The box kit contains numerous brackets to install into a vehicle, however I didn't need any of these as it simply screwed into the existing bracket from the UHF that was already in place. Power lead also just connected into exisitng wiring from previous UHF unit.

I wanted a DIN sized UHF CB Radio to fit into my vehicle with a DIN sized adaptor, so I purchased this Uniden 5050 which proudly claims to be DIN sized and I purchased a DIN sized adaptor. Sadly, it is NOT DIN Sized. Single DIN size is exactly 50mm x 180mm, this radio is 51mm x 170mm which means that it it is not only too tall to fit into a DIN Slot, it is too narrow. I was pretty disapointed with it actually, I spent quite a bit of cash on the radio and the DIN mount adaptor for my car and it turns out to be next to useless. Buy yourself an Oricom, at least they ARE DIN sized. I cannot recommend this radio.
