This pocket-sized Lansky sharpener is simply brilliant. All sharpening and honing components work exactly as the instructions say they do. I've had many different types and brands of expensive and cheap sharpeners - this one puts them all to shame if used properly, according to Lansky's instructions. Excellent product!

I have a lot of knives that need frequent sharpening. I also require them to be as sharp as possible (as quickly as possible). Over the years I have used hundreds of different steels, whetstones, polishing plates and "miracle" sharpeners. Most notably a Titanium and Tungsten pen sharpener. With all of them it has taken a large amount of effort to achieve the edge I need and quite frankly I call then junk. I purchased this a few days ago and it arrived today. I decided to test it out by sharpening my multitool blades as they had all become more useless than a butter knife. I read the guide on what sharpener they recommend for what edge and it to work. I'm in love. My scissors cut cleanly and with low drag. My saw marked bites in like a chainsaw. It took about 5 swipes on each blade and then a small polish with the diamond rod. Then I sharpened the main blade. I did not respect the knife and it bit me, courtesy of the Lansky sharpener. A slight over-pull brought the blade, on it's 7th draw across the carbide sharpener, straight across my pointer finger. The cut was SO clean I didn't even notice for about 10 seconds until I saw the blood. Then the pain came in a few minutes later. A roll of paper towels, medical super glue and a decent bandage later and here I am. This sharpener is VERY effective. Do NOT make my mistake. I already look forward to fixing up the kitchen knives.Read full review

The carbide sharpening blades on this tool are very aggressive - my Fiskars hatchet came from the shop with a very dull edge - 5 passes through the carbide notch sharpened the edge very well. Most of the time you only need to use the ceramic parts of this tool to hone your blades after they've been moderately used. Follow the instructions that come with the product - they're very informative on how best to use this tool to take care of your blades - I was surprised at how sparingly it is recommended to use it - most of the time, 4 passes through the ceramic notch is all my blade needs. The hinged rod is held in place by magnets. The tool is a little heavier than I expected - still very easily portable in a pocket - the lanyard hole is good design. My only quibble is that the larger ceramic sharpener labelled "serrated ceramic" moves a little in its housing and makes a very quiet rattling noise. The movement only occurs if you shake the tool - it doesn't affect its ability to sharpen, though, and it doesn't seem to rattle if I put the tool snugly in a dedicated organiser pocket in my pack or deep in my trouser pocket.Read full review

A top quality blade sharpener, very well designed and made. Extremely easy to handle and use and it's compact size makes it easy to store and carry on you. The perfect EDC item. I highly recommend this product.

This is an excellent "pocket sharpener". It won't replace a proper sharpening system, but it isn't intended to. It does the job it was designed for extremely well: touching up knives (straight and serrated edge) when the full sharpening set up is not available. The little diamond tapered sharpener is small enough to sharpen your cheese grater too!
