It has a strong compass response, easy to read and doesn't need batteries. I would have liked the option of a protective case, to protect it from magnetic fields.

pros The needle holds a steady course, doesn't bounce around like other, cheaper models. Nice and compact fits in the hand well. The bezel is firm and has a rubber ring that enables it to be operated with gloves on. cons (minor compared to the pro's) I mostly use 1:25k scale maps and the scale is a little cramped on the side of the baseplate. It would be better on the end of the baseplate.
