The microphone arrived promptly and exactly as pictured. It's a sturdy, decent microphone that captures a clear sound image of sound sources immediately in front of the device, therefore more isolated and clearer than the iPhone microphone. For objects at a distance it's neither better nor worse than the iPhone's on-board microphone.

Doesn't work for top end microphone jack
The sound quality is good–it captures the voice clearly over crowded areas. I would recommend this product for people who are in noisy places and need clarity in their recording. However, my smartphone has the headphone jack at the top near the camera. This causes the Rode microphone to be IN the frame during video. I am upset that this would happen but I suspected it anyway before I bought it. Do not use this if your phone is like mine. If you are using a rear end headphone jack smartphone, this is a great buy. Price is not too bad and definitely better than using the in-built microphone.

Excellent mic. Works on Apple & Android phones.
Rode have always had a great reputation, the VideoMic Me is no exception. I've found the sound quality very good, even in windy conditions (using the included sock). Even though the description of the product mentions mostly Iphones, I found it works perfectly with a Samsung Galaxy S10. No need to download an app, no need to adjust settings, just plug it in and use it. The Mic also works on both sides of the phone so it can be used for front camera (selfie) or rear camera recording. Well worth the purchase if you do a lot of filming with your phone including vlogging.

- Sound is not the same quality as a lavaliere of the same price, but then is very versatile for distance and focusing, especially with the "dead cat" on. - Very easy to plug-and-play. Didn't work on my Oppo A73 but works just fine on my Samsung Galaxy S5 and 8!

Not much gain
Ok have not used it much or with an app with adjustable gain. But with default iPhone video and voice memo the mic lacks level. Sound is ok but lacks a bit of warmth and fullness for my acoustic guitar. I bought it to record YouTube clips.
