I was looking forward to being able to make a good bead of about 1 to 1.5 mm on 5/16 (or 8mm) steel pipe, as you find on oem factory fitted fuel fittings. The problem with this tool is the main shaft rattles around in the 5/16 pipe with about 0.8 mm clearance. The tool measures 5.7mm outside diameter, the pipe has internal diameter of 6.5mm. The maximum protrusion of the ball bearing is only 6.6mm. So most of the travel is taken up just to reach the internal wall of the pipe. The resulting bead is only 0.1mm, which is inadequate to prevent a clamped, pressurized rubber fuel hose from dislodging. No need to mention the possible disastrous results which would ensue. The tool could potentially work on an aluminium pipe with a thicker wall.

Purchased this product with good faith it would work good for my fuel line tubes, however was left disappointed. The bead it produced in its maxed out setting was basically so fine and small it was useless. I put a hose and clamp on the pipe and could pull it off with ease. The small tiny bead it produces and nothing is the same.
