The adapter is very well made, with what seems to be a good quality glass fitted. However, it did not work with the more modern 'Auto' M42 lenses made by Asahi Pentax. It did work with the older 'preset' lens models made by Asahi. Some Takumar lenses would mount, but the auto function was not available. Other Takumar lenses like the 135mm f2.5 six element version would not mount, due to the auto pin fouling on the moulding. The problem relates to the buttress moulding at the base of the 42mm thread, which is not present in cheaper M42 - Nik AI adapters. This buttress offers good strength to the adapter, but it will not let the auto pin move freely, or can stop the lens from seating, which in the case of Takumar 135mm lenses can mean the switch pin on the mount face is not activated.
