The sound is tuned to Eric Gales' tastes, based on a classic TS-type overdrive, but with the midrange adjusted so that it sounds natural even when fully distorted. The midrange has been scooped for better balance, and the gain range is much wider than that of TS-type overdrives, which were suitable for booster to overdrive applications, allowing you to get plenty of hard distortion with a single unit.
