I've only had the Arlo Pro 2 for a few days and so far so good. It was easy to set up, provides high quality video (both day and night), the alarm is deafening, the mic feature is great and the app is easy to use. The only area for improvement would be a more secure camera mounting kit for outdoor use. A unit that locks the camera to the mounting unit would be ideal. Oh, and if you update the firmware on installation and you can no longer access the 'Mode' feature then you have the remove the base unit device from the app, uninstall and reinstall the app and reset the base unit via the device reset button and reinstall the unit again. This will resolve the 'Mode' issue.

Overall, it's a great product. I've been enjoying using it. so far - there're two drawbacks the I've found: 1. Weird choice of a power source by manufacturer: CR123A batteries which are expensive and cost a fortune for the rechargeable ones (the manufacturer does explicitly say not to use cheap batteries you can find on eBay or your warranty will be void). The non-rechargeable batteries don't last very long (mine 1st batch of CR123s supplied with ARLO lasted 1.5 months with average video quality and an average of 20 video-clips recorded a day - and that's in a warm subtropical climate). 2. In the night vision mode if there's even a small piece of a reflective material within the field of view, that screws the whole nigh-vision picture. the auto-adjustment algorithms behave very oddly. Also, Netgear recommends Tenergy rechargeable batteries as the only approved type of rechargeable RCR123As compatible with ARLO. The problem is TENERGY does not ship them outside of North America. Other than the above, it's a great product. I'm considering getting more add-on cameras for my arlo (as soon as I bring some tenergy rechargeable RCR123As from the US). Read full review

The Arlo Smart Home security camera was really easy to set up and very effective around the home. Motion detection is great and the video footage is nice and clear. Unfortunately, there is no sound, but daytime resolution is really sharp and night mode is very good. although not as sharp as daytime mode. Not sure how the batteries are going to last but it says between 4-6 months before replacement. Still, for the ease of setting up and mounting with no wires, it is really great and difficult to fault. I get alerts sent straight to my iPhone and can view 10 seconds of footage with each motion video capture. Plus I can also switch to live camera mode.

So far the system seems very good. Initially a bit concerned about the cost of batteries, however seem readily available on EBay for around AUS$2.10 or so. The batteries do last quite well if it's a low traffic area. I had a few problems (of my own making) however easily solved by using Google and the Arlo help site. Best buy the system in a bundle with 4 or 5 cameras. It's the cheapest way. However a deal can usually be made at any store when you quote camera prices available on EBay. As with most security systems, there is a slight lag in the delivery of the video and alerts, however that is to be expected. Overall, I think it's a very useful solution, regardless of being able to used wired or wireless.
