I bought this to check out the electrical componets in my fridge as it turn out, there was a faulty $8 part, replaced it and now fridge is running great. So this inexpensive multimeter has ended up saving me $1500 for equivalentt fridge replacemen. Everyone should have one

OK for occasional low-voltage hobbyist use.
This is a budget hobbyist multimeter. It is OK for occasional low-voltage use. The silk screened characters on the front panel range switch are blurry and hard to read in dim light. I experienced a few quality problems. (1) The supplied 9V battery does not fit into the battery compartment. I had to remove the back, and clip a bit of plastic before the battery and the battery connector would fit in the tiny space allowed for the battery. (2) The accuracy is not great. You can expect 1.0% error, mine was reading 1% high on DC Volts and 1% low on Ohms. (3) The manual says it is Category II for Insulation and Over-Voltage. I wouldn't trust this claim. There are other problems with the manual (see below). I would say from looking inside that it is a Category I device suitable for low-voltage electronics. The manual claims suitable for measuring 1000V DC or 700VAC but I would not trust this meter on that sort of duty. (4) The included leads are very thin and the wire is loose in the probe handle. The probe handle says "CAT III 1000V" which is exaggerated. I threw the supplied leads in the bin and I am using my own leads. (5) The included instruction manual is for a different device, so it looks like the same generic instruction manual is supplied for seven different models.Read full review
