My xenon Maglite Solitaire died, and I needed to replace it, so I chose the LED version for its compactness, illumination and expected battery life. This is probably my fifth Solitaire, so you can deduce my opinion of the company. I bought my first Maglite in 1984, my first Solitaire in 1988, and I have several sizes in addition to these. Anyway, I hoped that focusing the beam would be similar to the xenon version, and it is, but the range of beam size is considerably less, and there is an annoying scatter outside the focus area when focused as sharply as possible when I use it to look into confined area which reflects back into my eyes. I would like Maglite to develop the same crisp edge for this LED model as the xenon version features. Until then, I'll use it in spite of its one flaw, and enjoy its small size and astounding distance and area that this flashlight projects its beam. Update 4/22/16: After using this flashlight for a little while, I found that there is a narrow range of adjustment within which the light will stay on. Often I have to twist the barrel again to get the light to come back on. Also, with this being an LED, when the battery loses voltage, the light just shuts off, rather than dimming like an incandescent bulb would do. This, combined with the touchy switch, makes using this Maglite Solitaire LED a bit annoying, and I have changed my rating accordingly.Read full review
It's a good short-range utility flashlight. It's small, so it can be carried all the time without crowding the pocket. It throws enough light so you could reset a breaker or look for a keyhole. It's not very suitable for looking across a room. I get about 30 minutes of use out of mine before it wants a replacement battery.

I find the Maglite Solitare flashlight to be useful and helpful. It fits in my pocket or on a key chain and is useful at night to find the key hole to unlock my car's door. I also have used it to look in a dark place where I need to see. Rugged and waterproof.

Ive had 3 of the mini led maglites now. Im shopping for my fourth right now. I like them alot for various uses. I use it daily for one thing or another and when theyre brand new, they are great. The problem is that they start having problems when the cap is turned to "turn on". Its like the contacts get oxidized and wont conduct power. Sometime knocking it helps but eventually, they wont turn on anymore. I can see the battery contact inside the flashlight and made attempts to scratch it clean, but it didnt help. I havent had one last longer than 4 months. Maglight needs to spend an extra 25cents to have better contacts for how much these things are. I buy them because they're American made, but the quality is poor for the long haul. If i were to go camping, i wouldnt trust using an older one, id buy a new one for the trip.Read full review

Super bright, extra durable, the little flash light is a great bonus because I put it on my key chain and take it anywhere. Great deal and great product.
