The quality of the AI upscaling is amazing - makes a FHD video indistinguisable from a 4K! I also love the range of apps available: just about everything on the Google Playstore is there. I installed Kodi so that I can play everything on my home LAN. One pleasant surprise was that it could even read my 4TB USB portable HD, something none of my other media players could do. The built-in Chromecast is nice, but totally unneeded. My only complaint is my attached USB HDs show up with weird Product ID names instead of volume labels, but it's not a big deal.

Fine unit except for all the multitude of unwanted ads shoved down your throat via the home screen, something that NVidia & Google have had many, many complaints about but which I was not aware of until I used the device. I can't stand this business model!

Excellent product, extremely easy to set up, just plug and play. Works great with the Kodi app to watch my home videos. Netflix and Youtube are far more stable when watching through the nVidia Shield, compared to my LG smart TV.

I'd say this was on par or better than the Apple TV for android. I got it because I wanted to play Geforce Now on my projector, and it certainly works well for that---but more than that it has great streaming options and a fantastic interface.
