Harsh times, Hope, and love.
I bought this by Dee Williams as I like her writing. There is nothing to dislike about this book, it is written about the poor in London pre 1st World War and how one family lived especially one young girl named Milly and how her father, badly treated her before she ran away from home to find her Aunty Doris. (whom she never found) Jane a wheelchair bound of girl the same age found her asleep in the park and took her home and from there they became best friends for a number of years until a accident happened and Jane drown when she fell out of her chair and Milly though that she would go the prison for the accident. So she ran away again, and finished up back at home again. She goes to work at a biscuit factory for awhile before she joins the Suffragettes and works in the Office until it closed at the time of 1st WW. At which time Milly worked for the Red Cross. Before meeting up with Jane's brother again and they were still very much in love. A wonderful story, hard to put down
