Consistent and even winding.

These are a great upgrade for some Asian made guitars which have substandard tuners on them. Even guitars which are nearly A$1,000 like ESP Ltd guitars can do with this upgrade. These tuners have no play or looseness in them and the tuning stays constant for longer. Consistent and even winding.

I'm surprised by how good this guitar is.

I'm surprised by how good this is. The neck is straight which can be a problem with some cheaper guitars. The sound of the neck pickup is very good. Clean clear and well balanced. The guitar looks good and is quite light because of the basswood. I like basswood because it is a good substitute for mahogany. Not as deep but transparent for full tone low and high. The neck is wide and flat which I like. Good for chords. It was already set up quite well. Low E string 2mm from fret, high E string 1mm from fret at the twelfth fret. The problem with this guitar as with all Asian made guitars is the poor quality tuners. Some Gotoh SG381 tuners will be added. I bought this expecting to upgrade some of it. I will also be replacing the strings with flatwounds, probably 12-50 Thomastiks, that's why I wanted a top loading telecaster, and I will be replacing the neck pickup with a USA made Fender 52 reissue pickup, not because the pickup it came with is awful but because I have a better one.
