In Ronald Neames Tune Of Glory, the incomparable Alec Guiness inhabits the role of Jack Sinclair - the whiskydrinking, up-by-the-bootstraps commanding officer of a peacetime Scottish battalion. Sinclair is a lifetime military man who demands respect and loyalty from his men. But when Basil Barrow (John Mills) - an educated, by-the-book scion of a traditionally military family - enters the scene as Sinclairs replacement, the two men become locked in a fierce battle for control of the battalion and the hearts and minds of its men.Based on the novel by James Kennaway, Tune Of Glory uses the rigidly stratified hierachy of military life as a jumping-off point to examine the institutional contradictions and class divisions of British society, resulting in an unexpectedly moving drama.

    Top value .and enjoyable.

    Tops, and the best British Actors and I love the piping.A bit sad at the end but that is the story.I am interested in military traditions,so this film fitted the bill perfectly.This is a great film.
