Celebrating the 30th anniversary of the awards presentation, Brit Awards 2010 is a triple-disc compilation showcasing a highlight reel of hits by the award nominees. On account of the 30th anniversary, there is a special third disc featuring Brit Award winners from yesteryear. All the winners are here, including the British song of the year, JLS' "Beat Again." Other winners include the British male solo and female solo artists of the year, Dizzee Rascal ("Bonkers") and Lily Allen ("The Fear"), and the British group of the year, Kasabian ("Fire"). British album of the year winners Florence + the Machine are also showcased here with "Rabbit Heart (Lift It Up)." Lady Gaga, who won three of the four international awards, opens the album with "Just Dance." Brit Awards 2010 has all of the winners except Jay-Z. It also has lots of nominees, 40 different artists in all whose hits are spread evenly across two CDs. The musical styles are wide-ranging and don't always mix together well on this compilation. For instance, the excitement built up during one of the aforementioned highlights, "The Fear," is put on ice by Michael Bublé's ill-sequenced "Haven't Met You Yet." The sometimes random sequencing aside, there's plenty of great music here, most of it uptempo and electronic to some extent. The third disc of hits by past winners is a valuable addition. Its range of hits is also bizarre sometimes (the Spice Girls' "Wannabe" followed by Paul McCartney & Wings' "Live & Let Die," for instance), but the songs are all classics. ~ Jason Birchmeier
