Clean and easy to get a great sound

What a great Mic, this is by far the best mic I have in my home studio I have 6 x others, that cost me double what I paid for this mic. I am in the middle of recording an album of new songs and I am using this mic for all the vocals. Allan R

It just didn't work for my baritone/bass voice. It's a good looking, practical easy to use mic. I was hyped about buying one of the so called "Legendary Vocal" dynamic microphones and I knew about it's low gain levels so I bought a Triton Audio Fethead to boost it 27 dB and it still sounded too sharp with not enough bass, believe me I tried all the settings and did shootouts with other mics in my locker too...even though the Fethead pre's lifted it up and gave it a better sound. I find my Rode NTG3 condenser mic captures my voluminous voice better.

  • Erm, Aaaah, Hmmmmm

I went to use the mic last week (for the first time). I have a professional recording studio and I have a large array of mics. I didn't need this one I just wanted one. I used it for vocals and it was hard to move the meter leds. I changed some settings on the back; still low level. I set it to flat and got some signal but not enough for my liking. I swapped it over for my trusty AVE which worked perfectly. I then did a shootout between one of my 58's and the SM7B and there was approx 5db difference. Is this normal or have I bought a dud!!! I would say the result was accurate as it was the same sound source, same gain same proximity. It looks great but I think I need a pneumatic drill to move my meter LEDS.
