Product Information

Conflict between sons and fathers is an age-old topic in books and movies, in this case the rivalry is between a rebellious son, Sid, and his gangster father, Kwan (Tony Leung Ka-fai). Sid is played by Jackie Chan's actor son, Jaycee Chan, which gives this father-son story a particular edge. When Sid insults a powerful triad boss, played with menacing relish by Kenneth Tsang, his father sends him to Taiwan for safety. Bored and restless, he discovers a community of Zen drummers high in the hills, and joins up - a decision inspired by a pretty face that soon becomes a challenge. Chan is charming as the rebel son and the U Theater's drumming performances introduces a surprisingly spiritual element into what starts out as a crime movie. Winner of Best supporting actor (Tony Leung) and nominated for Outstanding taiwanese film of the year at the golden horse awards.
