I wanted an HD camcorder for some time but they were quite expensive and I originally had my eyes on a canon HV20, which I will eventually get but in the meantime I needed to get something in which I could get some practice in. The JVC cost me £165 on eBay, which is a bargain as it retailed at £250. What I liked about the JVC is it's ease of use and various manual controls. I had read the reviews on "simply DV" which gave it an ok review. The video quality is good, not outstanding but reasonable for the price. It's big let down is shooting in low light conditions which is not at all good but can be improved with a bit of software manipulation. The 32x optical zoom is a plus point and it's fairly light weight and has a image stabilizer which works fairly well. Another annoying aspect is that I have a mac and although imovie 08 the JVC eventually, it's quite a long winded process involving imovie crashing a couple of times. If I had paid £250 I would have bought a Panasonic 3CDD model. I'll eventually put some footage on youtube so you guys can make a more informed judgement. In conclusion this camcorder is a good model for £165 as long as you shoot in daylight, pay anymore then I'd be buying a Panasonic, sony or canon with a DV input rather than USB. JVC Everio range is very good if you have a PC and £600 to spend. But by far and away the Canon HV20 for the price and the quality is a camcorder everyone should own, and I will be submitting a review one I get one.Read full review
brilliant size and results macro built in would be nice to have a optical finder instead of just the tft screen and ieee 1394 dv would have been useful
I bought this Camcorder to be able to film my children, and even though I got the high capacity battery, when ever I come to use it, it needs charging. The camera discharges the battery quickly even when not on that it is next to unusable. You are much better of just using your normal still camera to film with, rather than getting one of these. I am really disappointed with the battery life which is extremely poor! Avoid!
Thgis is the second one I have had, my first being a GZ-MK21EK and I would not change it for any other manufacturers attempt at a camcorder. It does all anyone could ask of it without difficulty and can be set to the users own settings or auto. Nicely finished and totally reliable if cared for so my next one will be of the same type again!
its nice camera .i real enjoy that .i take this camera to 3 to 4 places its give me nice result.and its all option is working .
Excellent camcorder.
