A simple low cost switch with solid quality construction the SG108 good choice for most situations where you might want a small 8 port switch. Small switches like this generally get stuck in a cupboard or down the back of a desk and if they work properly you aren't likely to even think about them very often. The SG108 is solidly build, the steel case should provide good heat dissipation. Time will tell if it is as reliable as it looks, but so far I'm very happy with it.

This is described at a "Smart Switch" yet has no SNMP and no way to monitor power on the POE ports. It also has POE on port 1 which its firmware can do other things such as making it an trunk port thus reducing the POE ports for devices. Its use of port 1 for POE breaks the convention of using port 1 as the uplink port. Hardware seems fine but the lack of software features means it isn't good value or quality. It is wall mountable yet its power supply isn't. If it had SNMP and the POE on ports 5-8, I would have given it a 5 star rating but I bought it as a smart switch and I can't monitor it at all.

This smart switch is easy to use, comes with a disk containing a smart switch set up program. The POE ports are auto negotiable meaning if you plug a non POE device into the POE port it automatically senses the hardware and sets itself up accordingly as a POE or non POE. Good construction using an external power supple and a really good price!

This is a faultless switch that offers exceptional value for money. The "Smart' part of the switch is that you can insert a lead into one port and then (one would hope accidentally) insert the other end of the lead into another port on the same switch without bringing the network down. Excellent in a classroom where mischievous students might do that for a prank. We use the switch to power VoIP phones on desks and connect them to our Asterisk PABX. Works brilliantly. 1 Gigabit provides excellent speed in the office moving large files very, very quickly. Very happy with the product and with the supplier.

Needed a few more Internet ports in the house as have potentially 3 computers, TV, and a few other devices. The Telstra Smart modem had 4 ports but needed 6 so opted for a specialized switch box. All the ports are GB speed and can sense if a device is connected so throttles down if nothing connected. Have had this for over a year now and has worked faultlessly and does not get hot. It's very sleek and fits where I can see the status LEDS without being intrusive. Unlike a lot of things... this just worked straight out of the box. Plugged the main Internet cable into the back and other wired connections in and it was running.

I bought this product over a new switch as this switch has a metal case and seems to be of a better build quality than other plastic encased TP Link switches. So far, so good and it is very well made. Just be aware that the LAN ports are on the back and the power cable plugs into the front. So you will always have at least one cable showing in a residential environment i.e. next to your Loungeroom TV.
