There are 2 closed-cell rubber covered wheels, each carrying endless Aluminium Oxide abrasive belts. The left wheel sharpens the left side of the blade and the right wheel, the right side. During sharpening, the knife is supported at the correct angle by the central guide.

Think before buying, do you really need this?
Careful use it wrongly and you can easily ruin a good knife. Yes it does put a good edge on a knife but for the money if only used for normal household and recreation use I would suggest learning how to use a stone or the likes.

Sharpens knives quickly with little effort
Takes a little getting used to, definitely sharpens knives quickly once you are practiced. i haven't quite got my pressures right and so far have been cleaning any burrs with a pass or two across a stone.
