I've used the classic Stanley utility knife in the past but this one is a great ergonomic handled knife, easy to hold for us old guys. I like how it is retractable.

I rec'd the knife the other day and couldn't get the blade holder to protract from body. Tried fitting a blade from the outside thru the blade slot and it's wedged in there, making the knife completely unserviceable. Contacted Stanley Tools and they have given me an address to take it for service but they are closed for the holiday break and i don't when they will reopen (Their website says they are open but they are not) So I have been doing some running around for nothing and still have some to do so it seems.

I like the product but have not been able to use yet my hands are not strong enough

I bought this knife from a local hardware store last week. Having owned the older/original Fat Max, I incorrectly assumed I would be trading up and instead of buying 5 blades only ( my intentions for first going to the hardware store), I thought I might as well get the new knife as well. In short, the “safety mechanism” for inserting and removing the blade is rubbish - as soon as you ask the blade/knife, to do any real work, the blade continually releases from the knife. Very frustrating and not worth $1 let alone $20+. Do not waste your hard earned.
