The 1970s films are the best, hands down. Visceral, relevant and inspirational, but not in a sappy way, more in an existential fatalist manner. For some reason, people have complained about the DVD, but this 40th Anniversary Edition by Mill Creek Entertainment is excellent picture quality, 1.85:1 Anamorphic widescreen. Unsure why Sony/Columbia won't release this gem as it is very popular and sought-after. It's one of those tough 70s actioners with Jan-Michael Vincent as the Vietnam hero turned independent trucker battling corruption and inspiring unionism. Excellent support from the cute Kay Lenz and a trio of Peckinpah regulars- L.Q. Jones, Slim Pickens and R.G. Armstrong. Similar in tone to Rolling Thunder, Vigilante Force, but not quite the poetry of Convoy. A great movie, handsomely-filmed, well-acted and with great action and stunts. The iconic final scene will bring a tear to your eye.Read full review
