It's not plug and play; you need to ensure that the device is located by the software each time you use it. Pushing the buttons on the device does nothing. There is a couple of options using the software; auto or manual, but you still need to learn how to set the borders of the image before scanning. Select Frame and drag the corners to include the image required. Then choose either auto or manual processing. It doesn't matter really which you choose because you can adjust settings as you go if desired. Ensure that you play with all the settings to become familiar with their actions. They produce some accurate results from negatives and slides alike because you can adjust exposure, highlights, shadows, etc on your originals to produce a better result than you originally captured.

Nice scanner, but not the massive difference I was expecting, after upgrading from an Epson flatbed scanner (v370). Would also be much bettre if it could automatically advance the film-holder, rather than having to manually push it - rather clunky.

The infrared dust removal is a step up from the basic model and necessary if going to the trouble in the first place. Good product. Thanks.

This scanner comes with silverfast software. It is terrible. My experience has been just awful. I suspect it is the software: feeezes, jams, interminable pauses, reboots, start again, won't work. I regret this purchase.

Great scanner. Does take 90-120 seconds for a high def scan Was a bit tricky to set up needing correct drivers installed before installing software. As it was 2nd hand needed to swap registration details. Easy enough
