Item turns on when your hand goes near it, and heats very quickly in about 15 seconds, runs about two minutes then auto turns off if your hand moves away from it. Lightweight, easy to manipulate, a very usable iron. Takes about 1.1 amps from the USB port, so would be wary of using a laptop's USB port, and some smaller USB adapters. Melts 60/40 solder easily, and has enough heat for large pads and lugs.

In theory, these soldering irons are a great idea if they work. I broke the tip trying to get mine to turn on and work. There is a new tip coming, but to date, the led lit up but no heat came out of it. The instructions on the packet do not tell you to not t unscrew the tip. It is a push in and pulls out part will break if you attempt to unscrew it.

Since it's powered via USB, I was a little doubtful that this iron would manage as claimed, but it does, and it's quite nice to use. Being small and light, it's ideal for very fine work.

This is a simple device and it works extremely well. Uses a USB charger. Heats up very quickly 10-20 seconds. It has a fine tip so is good for detail work. Easy to handle and the handle stays cold. Perfect for a tech.

DO NOT BUY! it is the worst. The tip doesn't heat up. Sometimes it will get warm but the actual tip wont. so it gets stuck into the soldering.
