Great item for the price. easy set up and fast transfer. The only issue, and it is only a minor one, is the light weight. That is not a negative, it was expected, however i would recommend velcro to attach this switching box to a wall or even a desk. If you can put it behind something on a shelf safely go for it, but if not protected from falling off use stick on velcro. it's not a big deal to stick a couple of pieces on wall/desk and the unit.

For the price this is a great plug and play switch. Simply turn on the power and it works perfectly. The only downsides are the lack of status lights for the ports, inability to access a dashboard to customize IP addresses in the as of network conflicts and to upgrade firmware. These features are not necessary and have been left out to keep the price down.

I've had quite a few TP-Link products over the years and they have always worked well. This little ethernet switch is no exception. It feels a bit light and flimsy due to the plastic case and as a result the cables easily push it around. There are a couple of 'keyholes' underneath which allow you to fix it to a shelf or whatever to hold it down, but this can make swapping cables around a bit difficult and getting screws (not supplied) in the right place is really tricky - I suggest using some Velcro strips. You can connect the data cables in any order because it figures out which way the data is going. The green led's are located on the top which is not useful if you have other stuff on top of it to hold it down - they would have been much better on the front, and they're a bit too bright for a darkened room which becomes important if you have it placed near your Smart TV for example. The power socket is located on the side of the box and the plug that goes into it sticks out too far which is a major nuisance if you are trying to make best use of the space you have for your tech. There is no power on-off switch. It gets slightly warm and needs a bit of air circulation to get rid of that. It does do the job though, and it is cheap.Read full review

For people not needing a gigabit connection, the TP-Link TL-SF1008D will do you fine. Being plug and play, it makes it easy to setup quickly and get going with your network. At the price this is, I recommend buying one if you need an un-managed switch without a gigabit connection. Overall, I love this switch and 110% recommend it but have since upgraded as my needs are greater than what it could give me.
