Those that produced this DVD collection did their best with the 50 year old production assets they had though the menu pages might have been given a more stylishly 60s look instead of the windows DOS computer look. My only other objection is the application of the wide screen aspect ratio default which made Emma Peel's figure look wide as well. I wanted to see her the way she really looked so I altered the aspect ratio setting on my smart TV, back to normal mode and the genuinely slim body of Diana Rigg appeared. Patrick McNee's face also looked less wide and moon like. These were not fat people but applying wide screen settings makes them look that way. I'll put up with the old square TV shape and get an accurate representation of the humans on screen rather than fill out the sides of my wide screen TV just because it is a wide screen.Read full review

The Avengers was a staple of my tv viewing in my early teens in the '60s. It is a witty, highly engaging series with fine acting, fast-moving plots and '60s set design and fashion combined with traditional Britishness. The dialogue is witty and clever and the acting perfect. Emma Peel and John Steed are engaging characters.
