PROS: The Merkur futur is an adjustable razor which makes it very easy for beginners to get used to wet shaving and work their skills up to a more confident handling of the safety razors. It has a modern look. CONS: If you already know how to shave with a safety razor and are familiar with it, an adjustable razor is rather bit pointless. The lack of texture in the handle makes it a bit slippery when used with wet hands ... it is in my opinion the aspect which really needs an improvement. The head of the razor is a little bulky: it is okay if you want to shave completely, but it is not the best to work around a beard and do sharp edge details, such as around the moustache etc.

I've discussed this razor in my thread at the Badger & Blade shaving site. I don't like it, it has too big a blade gap for my liking. For me, to use it without getting lots of nicks and micro-nicks (which one gauges by stings after applying alum), I have to use the best creams, mild razor blades( like Shark Stainless steel), use short strokes and keep the razor at an angle where the top cap is against my face. On the other hand, many people at that site are adamant that for them it far and away the best DE razor they have ever used, Which makes it kind of hard to form an objective judgement on this razor.
