This unit installs easily on Windows with the disk provided, and runs very well. All my previous optical drives were a bit noisey whatever they played however the LG GH24NSD1 is very quiet almost silent playing videos or movies but winds up some noise playing photos or pics, a bit strange but actually the right way around, you don`t want noise when watching vids or movies but with Pics or photos it dosn`t matter. All in all I think this unit is an excellent buy for this price
