In an effort to consolidate, I have been ripping my DVDs to an external hard drive. For whatever reason, I was having extreme difficulties with my season three DVDs of Deadwood. It was important to me to get the final season in a digital format, so I went looking. To be perfectly honest, I was a bit apprehensive purchasing DVDs online due to not being able to see the condition of the discs. All those fears were set aside when the first disc went into the laptop and started ripping to the hard drive. I could not be more happy with my purchase!

This series is very engaging, once you get past the horrific use of the F word (2980 times) and other profanities. It also has some historical accuracies, as Seth Bullock, Wild Bill Hickok, Calamity Jane, Jack McCall, Sol Star, and Al Swearengen were real Old West Characters involved with Deadwood. But the Worst Fault is that the series abruptly ended after the 3rd year!! In the words of the (recently) late Powers Boothe “we were looking forward to the 4th season, as they were negotiating for a fifth season. Then we were told that the Deadwood series was finished”! David Milch gets the credit for all of the profanities, which he tries to justify during a session with Keith Carradine in disc #6 of season #1. Poor Keith Carradine had to listen to this egocentric writer/producer Brag about himself for 60 minutes!! My condolences go out to Keith Carradine. In my opinion David Milch needs to find another occupation. Read full review

I had previously purchased and viewed the two episodes of Deadwood, one and two and I had to see the final set of episodes. I thought that where they left me in the ending left something to be desired, but much of the rest of the caritures fates was included. I myself liked season one and two much better the the season three finale' and would have felt better if all of the main carictures destinies were better portrayed in the end. I even thought that the last disc had more episodes on it, but was surprised to find it to be only extras and out-takes. Was it worth the price, yes. I wish that they would have gone on with the season, although in the end the verbal four letter words and such did seem to get old and seemed even forced upon the audience..
Deadwood, like many of the other made for TV series such as The Wire, Rome and others are better entertainment than most of the movies coming out. I purchased this third season to go with the other seasons previously purchased. To me a good show is like a good book and rereading or in this case rewatching it always brings out the good points and you appreciate things that you did not notice in previous viewings. I grew up watching westerns on TV and in the movies and still enjoy them. Deadwood takes it liberties, but delivers a believable story with great acting. I like the way Deadwood developed it characters and the way the "white hats and the black hats" were united to fight off a common foe. My only disappointment is that the show has ended. I is my hope that Deadwood will have a movie, simular to what they did with Firefly, to close the door on this series.Read full review
Deadwood was a great TV series. I wish it had gone beyond 3 seasons. Great historical time period, and engaging quirky characters really make it entertaining.
