This product is well constructed from premium components, not that sharp out of the packaging so don't expect to cleave forests in twain. It's heavier than most Machetes but that's due to the saw, which is robust and very useful even as a stand alone tool. The handle can be tightened by handy Allen head bolts so as it loosens with use just nip them up. So I think that you'll get good value for money as well as quality. That's my 2 bobs worth.

The balance and feel was good. The blade though was blunt and unusable until it was sharpened. Like wise the saw, teeth just stamped out and roughly offset, no chamfer. In short a basically a well designed product let down by poor last stage production.

This blade serves as a great light weight companion for trekking through heavy bush and keeping foliage and sticks out of your face. It will need sharpening out of the box. It also works well for clearing long grass and bushes on flat ground for camping. It is NOT however a heavy duty cutter, its thin flexible blade will turn or possibly break due to its short tang. If you want to chop wood or clear paths use the saw or buy a Bolo or similar. The saw is handy for small branches but slow due to sharpening on one side only. All up it's the best and lightest option for strapping to a backpack or belt.

This is the second time I have bought the gator. First one lasted about 5 good years of chop around my property. The handle gave out in the end, but only because I left it out in all seasons. Will look after this one
