This machine is a great example of how improvements in technology do not have to come at the expense of usability. We bought the Elna 2000 as a replacement for a 1970s vintage Janome and were concerned that there might be a steep learning curve involved. How wrong we were to worry about that - this machine was instantly familiar and easy to set up and use. Even the bobbin loads the same way as our old machine and the other changes were simple to understand and practical. The top 'fold down' carry handle makes it easy to move and the light weight makes it a breeze to set up and put away for older 'sewists'. The controls are well laid out and the inclusion of a stitch chart on the machine makes it simple to select the appropriate settings.
