It weighs a half kilo. When your kayak weighs 20+kg, then any extra weight makes a lot of difference. Takes awhile to empty the kayak, but then it will get almost all the water out. It pumps on the up-stroke.

No doubt it will come in very handy when I need it. I've tested it only once, when washing out my kayak, and it was easy and fast to move the bulk of the water. It will even pump through pieces of string or long grasses so the water doesn't need to be totally free of debris. I like that it's light to carry and compact enough stow in my kayak or on the deck. The flotation foam on the outside makes it very comfortable to hold on to.
