Well presented and covers the rules and general information players of all experience need to get started playing D&D. I personally prefer the hard copy of these books rather than the electronic versions and this edition is excellent value for money. The artwork throughout is very well done and the book as a whole is well laid out.

As a Pen and Paper gamer who started rolling up characters in the late 70s with the original blue box for Dungeons and Dragons, gaming has been a part of most of my life. This newest incarnation of D&D is the single greatest step forward in sophistication for the franchise. Unfortunately, the way the character classes are designed make it clear that players are to play characters that are only really at home in an official D&D setting. If you want to play Conan, you’ll struggle. Fafhrd or the Grey Mouser? You’re out of luck. The Game Master has a choice; redo the character classes from scratch or use a commercial setting. Other than this glaring flaw, it’s good. Very good.
