On medium thick carpet, it flexes & creates a permanent indentation & the wheels get stuck. The supporting membrane is only 2mm thick, 5mm includes the spiky grippers. Good product that protects my carpet under the desk from wear and tear. From past experience with this product I have found it best to leave the rolled carpet protector (that's how it's posted to you) in the sun or in a warm room for a while for it to unroll and then lay flat.
