It's certainly a comprehensive guide to the native bees of Australia, however, I cannot recommend it to a general audience. Having delved into the text on the hunt for an unknown bee - or bee fly? - spotted in my garden, I quickly came to the conclusion that this book is aimed solely at people with an existing expertise in entomology, and sadly, not at folk who have an interest in native bees, but don't have the benefit of a strong scientific background. I would have liked to see an identification chart with all the native bees of Australia described within this text - perhaps grouped by State, or even by region, and with clear coloured illustrations of each bee - or bee fly - listing their common name as well as their scientific name. To have a chart like this included within the book would have given me a solid starting point in identifying my unknown bee.Read full review

This is a very good book. It contains all the details anybody would want if they were going to start keeping Native Bees.

The book has great information, but is more a scientific book rather than a beginners guide to keep ing native bees.

So much detail. The hard part is getting a good look at a bee and taking in that detail to apply the books information. A work in progress
