Belfast-born forensic pathologist, Dr Sam Ryan is obsessional in her pursuit of truth and justice. She believes passionately in the dignity of the dead person, that this body was once like you or me; it breathed, it lived and loved. Series 3 tackles the murder of a personal friend, domestic violence and abuse, drugs and the Army in Northern Ireland. Series 4 sees Sam become Professor Ryan and has to tackle a helicopter crash, a gangland killing and a cinema fire.

An iconic series well worth watching..
An iconic series that I had never seen. The ‘silent witness’ is of course the deceased person, who will hopefully give all the clues of how they died to our intrepid forensic pathologist. I prefer the original star, Amanda Burton, who left after season 8. The fact that she is Northern Irish, but working in Cambridge, is a bit interesting too. Holds up well today after all this time🙌🏼
