I bought this modem router to replace the one that came with the ISP. The Vr2800 has a good quality build and strong signals. So far I have not experienced any stability issue and the speeds for both bands are superb. I only gave 4 stars because it does not come with Voip ports and standalone WAN port. It is also a little larger than other modems.

The VPN feature of this product is useless if you want to access your internal network. The product has the option for enabling it as a "VPN Server", but doesn't allow access to your internal subnet range. Having read forums of similar issues, responses from TP-Link have been that the VPN traffic once connect to the router is still treated as "external", so you have to open up ports using NAT and expose your internal network, as you do not have any control in the NAT options for where the external traffic is coming from. If you could choose the source as the VPN traffic it wouldn't be so much of an issue, but this cannot be done. This makes the VPN server feature of this router totally pointless. There is a hack for manually creating a route on your VPN connected computer to access the internal network, but this has been flakey to get operational and inconsistent. Having chatted to TP-Link support directly about it, they claim that "This router is a VPN pass-through only". Yet the router clearly has the option for enabling it as a "VPN Server" and is spruced as being VPN capable. If TP-Link allowed you to issue IP's to VPN connections from your internal address range, or allowed routing between the two networks, this would fix this issue. Yet the request has fallen on deaf ears. Don't buy it for its supposed VPN capabilities, you will be disappointed.Read full review

This is a good modem/router which has solved some of the problems I was experiencing prior to its purchase. The ability to run different devices simultaneously without detriment to the performance of any is of particular benefit. The product was also very easy to set-up. The signal strength, particularly on the 5 GHZ band, is less than ideal and I still have to use an Wifi extender.

I had organised a technician to install this when we changed over to NBN. Just as well as it was factory set to ADLS, not NBN, which caused massive problems. Furthermore, it doesn't have VOIP compatibility, so we had to buy a separate unit to allow us to use our landline on NBN. Finally working now, and is just as fast as our original cable so am glad that we didn't get anything slower as we would have been very disappointed otherwise!!!

After two weeks of use. The modem works just fine. My connection is 8/50. My line is quite noisy, but the connection is stable and IPTV works perfectly. WIFI works with a good range and the speed is the same as when connected with a cable. Excellent used 5g. Much better than a modem from my service provider.

I moved from a Netgear R7000 to this router. The web interface is a lot nicer and it’s fast. Definitely recommend it. My only real complaint is that the iPhone app doesn’t support all the configuration options as the web interface, but still pretty happy asides from that.

It is a great performer and better than anything the big Teleco's ( Hey Optus) use for the NBN. There is no dead spots in my large house and the unit doesn't crash and resets itself like the modem router ( Optus) supplies.

It performs well for me and signal strength has improved over the cheap Netcomm NF18ACV supplied by my ISP I have. It says NBN ready on the box but I noticed SRA is off by default. So if using FTTN enable SRA. Day light saving needs to be manually set times/dates for Australia Unlike the TP link vr600v which has some Australian firmware modifications for our local market the vr2800 doesn't seem to have any local input on the firmware at all and no upper 5ghz channels (149+) which also the vr600v doesn't have either.

So far I've no issues at all. It is great value for the price. It is not difficult to set up the only problem I had was Telstra being unhelpful - they told me 3 different passwords none of them worked, so I used Google to search for a solution & turns out I didn't need a password (typical Telstra we'll be glad when our contract expires)

this modem/router does everything the manufacturers have stated in their advertising, the only uni I have not had to use other signal enhances for wifi through out my home and the speed of my fttn has increased dramatically.
