This thermometer comes well wrapped and with clear instructions. Do follow them, for they soon make sense. Its readings are close to the mark. Easy to use after a little practice, the temperature reading is so quick that one wants to do it again and again just to make sure. And if it is for oneself, then it is either put away or admired. Only a quick sweep of half an inch above one eyebrow to its end and back gets the job done. The instructions are clear, yet they are different from contact free thermometers. It is so good when manufacturers get it right. The only extras needed are a spray bottle of Isopropyl Alcohol, like Isocol, and cotton buds to rub over the head to keep it clean and allow multiple use. This is my preferred choice of thermometer.
