The game started off simple but as we played it more, there's more depth to it than originally expected. There were games when we thought there was a clear winner but after a few minutes of careful thinking, we would find ways to extend the game or win from a different direction. Very thought provoking and fun game! Also the pocket version has both expansions in it which is a huge bonus. The pieces are of good quality so I would expect them to last a long time!

Hives is a great game for two! It is compact and lightweight to take on trains and boats and planes! Takes a little while to become familiar with different moves that creatures can make but once familiar it is a great strategy game! We love it!
