Having the lead attached means it is with the unit, no searching for the lead to be able to use. Each usb lead has a different end, so no issue here. Combined it is compact. The range of cards that can be loaded through this unit, meant this was my choice. Smaller cards can be plugged into a laptop, a cf card being larger, is not possible. Lessening the risk of having a pin jam in your laptop, being unable to get the card out. To date personally I have not experienced this, also have no desire to do so. Main use of cards is due to photography, so a constant use situation.

Broke on first use. The slot for SD cards has a very thin plastic "shelf" under which the card has to go under to be held in place. Mine broke and fell out. I assume the other slots were OK... but I do not have that type of cards to check. I use SD cards to load up a 3D printer to print. It could be this card reader was that one in 1000 that was flawed, but mine was was flawed!

For less than $AU5 this card reader is pretty great for the price. It's not the most strong or durable looking thing in the world, but for a fiver? It has so many card slots - should cover all of your needs and I've had no trouble with it at all. I've used microSD, SD and XD with no problems. Plug and play feature makes it easy to use with your PC - just plug and go basically. Other reviewers have said they've had trouble getting cards in - I've had no problems so far. I'm especially pleased it has an XD slot, it's been impossible for my mum to get her photos off her (very outdated) camera before this. Seriously, how can you go wrong for the price?
