I'm a beginner to marine aquariums and whilst this is a great starter tank even I can see it has flaws the main one chiefly is poor water flow, the pump is just no where near powerful enough and barely moves the water. I can't help thinking that Fluval has done this so you buy a marine wave maker from them. The tank has a filter area at one end nad a seperate lid which is damned awf and it won't stay down and it falls off a lot. I can see what they were trying to do but they did it poorly in my opinion. Then the LED light is either on straight into really bright and then is switches to blue and then off. My freshwater Fluval tank has a gradual increase in brightness, this one is like a headlight and it startles the fish. To summarise, a great starter tank, a little expensive and has a few stupid problems built in by Fluval which are probably to keep the cost down but cause issues for the beginner.Read full review

This works well as a nano tank for a competant aquarist, but tends to overheat in temperate climates during warmer months due to the heat generated by the return pump, recommended protein skimmer, and included lighting. Some fan cooling is required to keep in the 25-27 deg zone for happy corals. During winter months the tank would be fine with a small heater.
