I'm a beginner guitar player, and I've chosen the Vari-Grip because of the tension adjustment. However, the lightest tension it's really hard, so I don't see any reasons I'd ever get to the strongest tension. Unless I use 2 fingers for each button. In overall it's nice. I exercise every day at work, and I'm getting used to the strength, though. I suggest you play more than exercise, especially for build calluses on your fingers.
