I had to update my aquarium filter, as my old submersible filter had recently killed two gold fishes within a month of each other, because the food gets built up between the filter and tank. So I desperately needed a new filter, as it was my duty of care to keep my other three gold fishes alive. In all my experience having fishes as pets, using all the cheap non-filter brands (as buying equipment can get a bit pricey) I did however spent a bit more on a filter last year buying a Blue Planet brand - it was a good filter right up to September and October of this year when the accidents happen. Aqua One: ClearView 75 Hang On Filter is the best aquarium filter I ever own. Love the clever design how the filter sits nicely outside of the tank -so that's a plus with no more accidents, with the filter setting outside the tank now there's more space in the tank for the fishes to swim in my small 30L tank (the submersible filters take to much space and they're very noisy), the filter is extremely quiet, I notice it keeps the tank water cleaner/clearer for longer, easy to assemble and clean with less fiddling with the removable parts. I'm very happy with this filter, I personally give it 10 stars!Read full review

these are the best filters because if you use two you can change the carbon in one whilst leaving the other one running.
