I bought a genuine GM heater tap for my HSV project car along with new hoses etc. The first thing I noticed when unboxing it was that it was now all plastic, the metal vacuum chamber is now plastic which could be an improvement as I have had the metal ones corrode on other vehicles. The area where these mount into is difficult to access or see and as I inserted this part into the OEM mounting clip I heard that sickening noise of the mounting clip snapping. When I removed the new heater tap and compared it with the original heater tap I determined that the body of the heater tap between the crimp join and the lower hose elbow is about 12mm shorter than the original which is where the clip would normally locate, unfortunately I did not notice that when I had them on the bench fitting the hoses. Due to the location of the tap, hoses, exhaust etc I can see why GM deemed it necessary to fit a mounting clip and I am fairly firm in my belief to do jobs once and do them properly. Unfortunately, now I am in need to hunt down a new mounting clip. In fairness I have not approached the seller about this to date however as this is a product review I believe my comments relate and are valid.Read full review
