People claim that they like this palette because it has "sheer, buildable" pigment. In truth, I have never felt a fresh new palette this non-forgiving - you can grind your brush into the eye shadows and still pick up the least amount of pigment ever (I use Sigma brushes). It's like trying to grind through cardboard. I even used the packing tape trick to take off the top layer, thinking that it might be just a factory packaging issue. No luck. Also, unless you are a porcelain doll (and I am a light/medium), this takes forever to build up dry - everything is crazy sheer. I resorted to fingers... and ended up with more product on my hands than eyes. One reviewer said that it was a bad introduction to NARS dual-intensity eyeshadows. As a new NARS user, I agree. It's totally a shame, because the packaging is gorgeous, artsy, and the colors in the pan are so luminous and luxe. In fact, the highlighter is perfectly subtly shimmery (like subtle dawn light off of fresh snow). But, the lack of ease in application is frustrating! This is not an everyday palette, this is a... "I have 40 minutes to meticulously grind my brushes into this palette and fuss around" palette. I'll choose Dior, Stila, Tarte, and even Boots No. 7 for my daily wear.
