The original Dr Zhivago from 1965 is a well-known and much loved classic with brilliant music and a spectacular cast. Finding copies of such old films as Dr Zhivago, and saving them for future viewing, is a very good idea. Films are now being made profusely and public libraries and second hand sources cannot store them for as long as they used to. Dr Zhivago is one of the great ones and it deserves a place in my personal library.

Two discs were provided - disc 1 "the film", disc 2 " summary by Omar Sharif. As we had never seen the film before we didn't know what to expect. The film started with a train emerging from a black tunnel with Dr Zhivago, his wife Tonia and son Yuri on board. However when we watched disc 2, we realized that it referred to many events and situations from "the film" which were not on our dvd - I believe that we have only received approximately half of the full film - not impressed !
