The first one I got didn't work correctly from the beginning. (It was plugged into the same outlet as a working 9116 charger.) I plugged it in to a different outlet to see if that would help, and it shorted out - snap, flash, smoke. I returned it for a replacement, which worked for about 6 weeks and then simply failed. A 9116 charger I bought at the same time is chugging along with no problem. I hope it lasts three years like the original 9116 that came with the tools did. I've ordered another 9116 so I can have two batteries charging. Not trying the 9226 again.
