I’ve read a few reviews of this and other similar gas heaters and I can tell that some people shouldn’t have these types of heaters. The instructions are very clear about outdoor use only but some people still insist on using them in or very near a tent and wonder why they have problems. These radiant heater work quickly and are very efficient in getting you warm but just use a bit of care. I have used a portable gas heater that uses the very cheap disposable cartridge and they are rubbish. Once the disposable gas cylinder gets cold, by the gas being used, the gas pressure reduces considerably and the heater stops working. The Companion Radiant heater can be used on a much larger cylinder which have larger volume that keeps the pressure high and therefore keeps producing plenty of heat. Much better than the Gasmate equivalent as the Gasmate model tends to block the Jets. My only complaint with this Companion model, It is much noisier, but the addition of a more refined tap on the bottle allows you to turn It down easier, which quietens It somewhat, and allows finer control of the heat output. The reflector needs work as It could have been more polished, but I spent half an hour polishing with metal polish and now all Is fine. Overall, though, very good
