Too many niggling issues
This item does work. It has some serious issues which could easily be fixed with a firmware update. 1. When switching on it defaults to the 'explore' map. It should switch on in the same mode that was being used before it went to sleep. 2. In the drive mode, It does not remember the choices one selects for what appears on the map so this needs to be done each time. 3. If you purchase additional, more detailed, HEMA maps, they appear in the 'drive' view instead of the 'explore' view. 4. Contacting Garmin support gets you 'form letter' type responses instead of responses that actually address the issues you are asking about. 5. In the explore view, the unit beeps with alerts that do not show up in this view. The alerts are not spoken alerts, but rather require you to look at the unit to find out what the alert is about. Overall, not worth the money. Poorly programmed. Better off with something like GAIA gps on a tablet or mobile phone.Read full review
