It would be ok for a student but there was a chip on mine and a few marks. It is not high gloss just Melamine. It took over an hour to put it together . I don’t like that you can see the screw heads on the side of the top shelf . The draw handle is plastic. You have to give the draw a bit of an extra push at the end of closing it for it to be flush with the edge.
